Weekly intelligence on African tech — new companies, funding rounds, and partnership opportunities.

Two sources
Companies submit a profile, or our research adds them. Every researched record carries the source URLs it came from and a confidence level.
The website must answer, the HQ city is geocoded, and a record that repeats a known website domain or name-and-country pair is skipped.
A record goes public on its own only with high confidence, two or more sources (at least one outside the company’s own website), a live website, a recognised country, active status and a sector. Everything else waits for human review.
Every week, the websites checked longest ago are checked again, so each company is revisited about every six weeks. A site that fails three checks in a row, or looks parked, opens a review item; the record is not deleted.
The publisher and edition appear under every visual that uses them. An external figure is never added into an ATM count.
Funding, internet and mobile money reach, innovation hubs, startup-hub ranks and developer populations sit outside what a company record can tell us.
The register below lists each source with the edition we use and when we retrieved it.
