African Tech Map is an independent directory of companies, investors and funding activity across African markets. Every record carries its sources, and any company can claim and correct its own listing at no cost.
Good decisions about African tech are still made on incomplete information. Company lists go stale within months, funding data is scattered across dozens of sources, and most coverage concentrates on a handful of markets.
We built African Tech Map to fix that base layer — not commentary or a ranking, but a maintained, sourced record of who exists, what they do, and where they operate. Founders use it to find partners and talent. Investors and buyers use it to size markets. Researchers use it because the sources are attached to every record.
The directory is free to browse and will stay that way. Any company can claim its own profile and correct it directly.
Every record needs at least one source URL and a confidence rating before it can publish. Where evidence is thin, the record says so instead of guessing.
Searching, browsing and reading the full directory cost nothing today and always will. There is no paywall on the base layer of information.
A company can claim its own listing and correct what we have on file directly, rather than waiting on us to make the change.
Five checks, most of them automatic. A record that fails one is flagged for review rather than deleted, so you can see what we could not confirm.
Company details are compiled from public sources — company websites, press coverage and public registries.
Each record is checked for a live website and assigned a High, Medium or Low confidence rating based on how strong the sources are.
Only High-confidence records with two or more independent sources and a live site publish automatically. Everything else waits in a review queue.
Companies can claim their own listing at any time and correct what we have on file.
Websites are re-checked on a weekly rolling cycle, so each company is revisited about every six weeks. A listing that goes offline is flagged for review rather than quietly deleted.
New submissions go through the verification pipeline above. Corrections to an existing listing are reviewed directly.
